The 2009 JGA Season begins Tuesday, June 16 with the 12 & Under Instructional Group.  There is still time to enter!  Please visit the downloads page to download entry forms or the 2009 JGA newsletter.

A big THANK YOU to all the registrants who have included a voluntary contribution to the JGA with your entry fee!  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Registered participant lists for each age group are now online on the 2009 Schedule page.  This is also the page where you will find tee times and results for all events.  Please email us at jga@kalamazoogolf.org with any corrections or cancellations.   


12 & Under Instructional Group
The 12 & Under Instructional Group begins Tuesday, June 16 at Grand Prairie Golf Course.  Group assignments have been made and are online here.  Please email jga@kalamazoogolf.org if you cannot attend an event or if you need to change the group you are in.


Junior Golf Leagues
The Junior Golf Leagues begin play the week of June 22.  If you have not registered yet, please do so soon.  Click here to go to the Junior League home page for sign up information.

Registered participants are now listed on the Junior League Home Page.  Tee times will be assigned for the first week of league.  Please email us at jga@kalamazoogolf.org to request your grouping or time.  Please let us know if you are unable to play the first week.  Sign-ups for JL1 are low which means we may move the start time for JL2 up to as early as 9:30.  Tee times for the first week will be posted online by June 21.  After the first week of play, you will be able to sign up for your own tee times per Junior League Guidelines.

 


 

Instructional classes update

Session 1 of the Eastern Hills Competition Camp is sold out!  Session 2, scheduled July 6-10 still has openings.  Call Paul Simonds at Eastern Hills, 385-8175, for more information.

Grand Prairie Golf Course has added a new junior golf clinic on July 15, 16, 17.  Cost for the 3-day session is $50.00.  Junior clinics are a fun way for juniors to learn the basics of golf.  Topics include short game, swing mechanics and trouble shots as well as rules, etiquette, course management and how to keep score.  Click here or call Grand Prairie at 388-4447 to sign up!

Michigan PGA Junior Tour Information
The Michigan PGA Junior Tour is a statewide tour for boys and girls ages 13-18. It consist of 15 events including a tour championship at the end of the year. Juniors can sign up by going to www.michigan.pga.com and clicking on junior tour.  Click here to download a flyer with list of tournaments.
 
The US Kids local tour is a junior tour for boys and girls ages 5-14. It consist of 8 events with a tour championship at the end of the year. For more information on this tour and to register please go to www.uskidsgolf.com.


 


 

 

Junior Golf Fund (JGA Scholarship Fund)
The endowed Junior Golf Fund was established within the Kalamazoo Community Foundation in 1989. Since then, 37 scholarships totaling $49,000 have been awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in the JGA.  Click here to see the list of recipients.  Gifts to this fund are not only tax deductible, but also may qualify for a state credit of up to 50% under the Michigan Community Foundation Tax Credit. Checks may be made payable to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation with "Junior Golf Fund" written on the memo line and mailed to the address below.  If you prefer, you may make a gift online at www.kalfound.org or directly to the JGA here. You may also consider making a gift of stock. For more information about the ease of making a gift to the endowed Junior Golf Fund, please contact Carol Carter at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation at (269) 381-4416.  Donation envelopes are available at Grand Prairie Golf Course as well as many other local golf courses.
